Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. At the age 4, she started in the industry with voiceovers and commercial work. Her first film was Private Parts (1997). The Object of My Affection (1998) followed by Another World (1964) where she played "Rain Wolfe", a child discovered in the park and fostered and cared for by Josie. Sarah would go on to work with Amy Carlson ("Josie") many times: Falcone (2000) and Law & Order (1990) as well as Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was selected as one of the younger "Audrey Hepburns" in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) the same year she was cast as "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999) starring Kathy Bates, Audra McDonald, Alan Cumming, Victor Garber and Kristin Chenoweth. Also, Joe Gould's Secret (2000) and Falcone (2000). In addition to her TV and film roles, Sarah studied voice, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, tap, Theatre Dance, and performed in her Theatre and tap dance class at "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A born in New York and raised there, Sarah spent much of her time in television, film, and voicing many radio ads and also traveling with her father, Edward James Hyland, while he worked at many theaters across the nation. She was educated at home by her mom until 2nd grade, and then went to Public School. She was accepted in the 6th year to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) in which she remained until 2008 when she graduated. Sarah who was 18, moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she got a pilot with the name "My American Family". The pilot's name was later changed to Modern Family (2009, after Sarah was chosen). Sarah is currently the "Haley Dunphy", an eldest Dunphy children. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for the Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
